The publication commemorative photo exhibition for Lee Gap Chul’s 《Conflict and Reaction》, where visitors can
experience the artist’s original gelatin silver prints, will be held at the
bookstore The Reference. Centered on works from Space22’s collection, the
exhibition coincides with the release of the photo book in early August.
Returning in a revised edition 18 years after its initial publication in 2002,
Lee Gap Chul’s 『Conflict and Reaction』 is jointly planned and published by Space22 and Ian Books. This
first complete photo book collects all works from Lee Gap Chul’s signature
series ‘Conflict and Reaction’, capturing the emotions and subconscious of the
Korean people, and is available in a standard edition and two special editions.
The series ‘Conflict and Reaction’ is widely recognized for evoking uniquely
Korean sentiments and subconscious imagery, leaving a significant impact on the
Korean photography scene. The exhibition offers a rare opportunity to
experience the vivid dynamism and reactive energy of these works firsthand.
