The invited artist for Alternative Space Pool in 2001 is Bahc Yiso. During more than ten years of living in New York, Bahc Yiso frequently addressed themes of tradition and his ambiguous relationship to it, as well as issues of communication and misunderstanding arising from cultural conflict. More recently, his work has shown a growing interest in the temporariness and fragility of life and objects, the vulnerability of human beings, and a civilizational reflection on effort and striving.

The Steering Committee of Alternative Space Pool recognized in his practice the Korean adaptation and potential of conceptual art. The Alternative Space Pool Invited Artist Exhibition aims to rediscover artists in their thirties and forties who sustain Korean contemporary art, while also providing a platform to explore their new capacities and directions.
