The artist will use the third-floor gallery as his studio for one month, seeking to capture the view of Seochon in Seoul as seen from a space overlooking Jongno and Seochon at a glance. As visitors encounter the painted cityscape of Seoul alongside the actual view, the exhibition reveals how Choi Gene Uk translates this landscape into painting and how our way of seeing shifts through the artist’s gaze.

In doing so, viewers move beyond the passive act of viewing artworks to become deeply engaged with the site of their making, encountering and empathizing with Choi Gene Uk’s “emotional realism” as it emerges from everyday scenes that might otherwise pass unnoticed.
