Installation artist Choi Jeonghwa (53)’s Breathing Flower is scheduled to be installed on the Han River.

‘Choi Jeonghwa’s flower’ has previously been presented at symbolic sites around the world, including in front of San Francisco City Hall, Kyiv’s Maidan Square, the Sydney Botanical Garden, the Venice Biennale, and the runway of Fukuoka Airport, and will be exhibited in Korea for the first time.

Super-large ‘flowers’ measuring 12m, 8m, and 4m will be installed on the water around Some Sevit in Banpo Hangang Park and revealed to the public from the 24th.

Since the 1990s, Choi Jeonghwa has been active in biennales and international exhibitions worldwide as an installation artist representing Korean contemporary art, while also working across diverse fields including interior design, film, architecture, stage design, and directing as an all-around artist.

Breathing Flower, which will be permanently installed at Some Sevit, is expected to become an ‘icon of the Han River’ together with the Moonlight Rainbow Fountain.
