As part of the 2021 Emerging Artists Exhibition Support Program, the exhibition 《INVENTORY》 focuses on the spatial characteristics of the SeMA Storage, which was formerly used as a reagent warehouse—specifically, its function as a space for organizing and arranging items. The exhibition attempts to create a setting where virtual and real spaces coexist by linking the physical storage space with the artist’s conceptual "inventory"—a virtual repository of images. The wooden shelves in the exhibition hall evoke the grid-like "inventory" of in-game item storage, which aligns with the artist’s method of arranging virtual three-dimensional images onto the flat surface of a canvas. The categorically arranged works within the space function as a large-scale installation that visually expresses the invisible structures of society, reinforcing the artist’s intention.

Artist Introduction

Jaeseok Lee bases his work on personal experiences and events encountered through media. His contemplation of the "body," which began with a series of incidents he experienced during his military service in his early twenties, later expanded into conceptual elements such as flesh, components, and geometric forms. Through the heterogeneous arrangement of these elements, he seeks to explore new ways of interpreting their relationships. Grounded in the juxtaposition of these individual elements, Lee continuously investigates the visual harmony between invisible social structures—verticality, horizontality, and alignment. His recent exhibitions include 《The Boundary》(2021, Hakgojae Design Project Space), 《Metaphor of Inside and Outside》(2020, ArtSpace128, Daejeon), 《Aligned World》(2020, Gallery Meme), and 《NEXT CODE》(2019, Daejeon Museum of Art).
