Hwayeon Nam's solo exhibition 《Imjingawa》 is held at Audiovisual Pavilion from December 7, 2017, to January 28, 2018. The exhibition begins with a song that the artist happened to hear by chance. As she traces the origin and whereabouts of the song, Nam's work encounters her ongoing inquiries into the concept of time and the archive, intersecting with her distinctive methodologies that generate performance and choreography on a new level.

Following the traces of the song—its relationship to the past and its continued resonance in the present—Nam engages in a process of research and enactment that generates new realities. Through this exploration, she discovers different temporalities and spatialities, as well as individual and collective experiences and memories that exist between the song and reality. These fragmented meanings are intricately connected to the song’s history and cultural context.

Nam's performative approach, originating from the song, reflects and refracts the events, times, and spaces created by the song. The exhibition thus explores the complex interplay between sound, memory, and historical narrative, revealing the layered connections between past and present, reality and imagination.
