The exhibition showcases the distinctive artistic practice of Hong Jungpyo, who gained international attention after being specially invited to participate in a tribute project dedicated to the Lady Dior bag by French luxury fashion house Dior. Hong creates a striking impression through perfect balance and refined restraint, expressing an obsessive pursuit of beauty reminiscent of the Renaissance master Michelangelo.

Hong Jungpyo studied sculpture at Hongik University and its graduate school, developing an in-depth exploration of the medium. He received the Grand Prize at the 26th JoongAng Fine Arts Prize and was selected for a residency at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris, for which the Samsung Foundation of Culture selects only one artist each year.

His works demonstrate a profound investigation of sculpture and a spirit of experimentation. One of the defining characteristics of his practice is his application of molding, a technique used in architecture, to seamlessly connect rough surfaces and achieve results approaching perfection. His works are also modular, allowing them to be reassembled according to different spaces and contexts. This innovative approach has been recognized for expanding the concept of sculpture.

Hong Jungpyo has participated in exhibitions at leading Korean art institutions, including the Seoul Museum of Art, Gwangju Museum of Art, and Savina Museum of Contemporary Art, opening up new possibilities in contemporary sculpture. He also participated in an exhibition paying tribute to the Lady Dior bag at Dior's flagship store in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul, where he transformed the brand's heritage and artistic sensibility into a compelling artistic expression, continuing to cross the boundaries between high-end fashion and art.

SWITCH22 is a private lounge exclusively for companies occupying Parc.1 Tower 2. OPENWALL has transformed the space into a gallery, presenting works by distinguished artists from Korea and abroad. This exhibition is part of OPENWALL's ongoing efforts to establish new connections between art and business environments.

Ban Su-kyung, CEO of OPENWALL, stated, "Through the constantly evolving process in which modular works are reassembled according to different spaces and contexts, visitors can gain a renewed understanding of the flexibility and possibilities of sculpture. We hope to offer an engaging artistic experience that allows audiences to explore contemporary sculptural art beyond the limitations of traditional sculpture and appreciate the pleasure of observing its changing forms."

The exhibition is open to the public free of charge at SWITCH22 in the Parc.1 building in Yeouido until March 31, 2025. For inquiries regarding the exhibition and artworks, visitors may contact OPENWALL.
