RYSE, Autograph Collection (hereafter RYSE Hotel), announced on the 29th that it has renovated its Artist Suite. Graphic artist Chris Ro participated in the renovation project.

Chris Ro is a graphic artist and professor of Visual Communication Design at Hongik University. His longstanding collaboration with RYSE Hotel began in 2020 with the graphic installation 3, Three Sounds on the hotel's exterior wall. He subsequently presented installations on the hotel's facade in 2021 and 2022, completing three projects over three consecutive years.

The renovated Artist Suite, located in Room 1501, is centered around the concept of “yellow.” The artist spent several days staying in the room while creating his signature graphic artworks, which are displayed throughout the space to create a cohesive artistic environment.

Rather than simply framing and hanging artworks, Ro applied screen printing directly onto the room's walls and arranged these compositions alongside works on canvas, transforming the walls themselves into frames. In another experimental approach, he also incorporated a silkscreen printing screen into the room as a finished artwork in its own right.

Boram Park, General Manager of RYSE Hotel, stated, “We decided to renovate the Artist Suite to further highlight RYSE Hotel's unique identity through change. We will continue collaborating with a diverse range of artists to offer our guests the distinctive and creative experiences that define RYSE.”

On the 2nd, RYSE Hotel hosted an artist talk session to celebrate the renovation of the Artist Suite, providing an opportunity for the artist and the public to discuss his work.

To encourage in-depth conversations between the artist and attendees, the event was held with a small group of participants selected from applicants interested in design and art. The program included a room tour, an artist talk session, and a networking event at the hotel's rooftop bar, SIDE NOTE CLUB.
