Three companies have pledged to support three artists through the Korea Mecenat Association’s ‘One Company, One Artist Support Program.’

The association announced on the 3rd that a sponsorship ceremony for the ‘One Company, One Artist Support Program’ was held on the 2nd at Hwigyumjae in Gahoe-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. At the ceremony, the MetLife Korea Foundation pledged three years of support for Yoon Hyangro, Byucksan Engineering for Lee Byungho, and the CJ Cultural Foundation for Oh Jeisung.

Launched by the association in 2021, the program was established to provide outstanding Korean artists with a foundation that allows them to focus on their artistic practices. The Korea Mecenat Association connects corporate sponsors with promising next-generation artists selected by the Korea Arts Management Service.

As of this year, the fourth year of the program, ten companies have established partnerships with thirteen artists. The MetLife Korea Foundation, Byucksan Engineering, and the CJ Cultural Foundation are all participating in the program for the second time.

Artist Yoon Hyangro explores distinctive forms of abstraction through variations in subject matter and expression. Artist Lee Byungho seeks the infinite possibilities of sculpture by moving beyond the fixed weight and solidity traditionally associated with the medium, transforming masses through actions such as tearing and crushing. Artist Oh Jeisung reinterprets traditional sensibilities through contemporary technologies to propose new forms of sculpture.

Yoon Young-dal, chairman of the Korea Mecenat Association, said, “This program is a significant investment in the distant future of arts and culture. At a time when leading museums and galleries around the world are paying close attention to Korean artists, active corporate support is essential to further strengthen the competitiveness of Korean contemporary art.”

Works by the three artists receiving support can be seen through the 6th at 《DIALOGUE: I Am Because We Are》, an exhibition held at Hwigyumjae.
