According to KT&G on the 16th, “KT&G SLAP” is an educational program for emerging photographers operated by KT&G Sangsangmadang. Launched in 2008, the program has fostered more than 180 photographers to date.

Participants undergo approximately five months of structured training, including lectures on basic photographic theory and printing techniques as well as group mentoring. Upon completion of the program, they receive various forms of support, including opportunities to participate in exhibitions at the KT&G Sangsangmadang Hongdae Gallery and assistance with producing individual photobooks.

The 16th cohort program ran from September last year through January this year, with photographers Sungsoo Kim and Seunggu Kim, both selected as Artists of the Year by the photographer support program “KT&G SKOPF,” participating as mentors.

In addition, photographer Hyoyeon Kim and Dongsin Seo, both previously selected as Final Artists of the Year by SKOPF, joined the program’s special lecture faculty this year, further strengthening the curriculum.

The 13 artists who completed the program will hold a graduation exhibition titled 《First-Person Perspective》, presenting 130 works that interpret a variety of subjects—including people, landscapes, and objects—through their individual perspectives.

Na Changhyun, Part Leader in charge of the Academy at KT&G’s Cultural Contribution Department, said, “KT&G SLAP is a program designed to allow artists seeking to expand their view of the world through photography to experience the entire process, from education to exhibition. We will continue to provide a wide range of opportunities so that emerging artists can pursue and realize their aspirations.”
