ZER01NE, sponsored by Hyundai Motor Group, will hold 《2023 ZER01NE DAY》 for four days from Thursday, October 19 to Sunday, October 22 at S Factory in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul.

ZER01NE is a creative space and talent platform established by Hyundai Motor Group in 2018 on Gangnam-daero, Seocho-gu, Seoul, with the aim of fostering a creative talent ecosystem.

ZER01NE DAY is an event where artists, developers, startups, and talents from various fields participate to present their projects and business models to the public, and where visitors can also directly participate and experience them. Over the past five years, it has communicated with more than 52,000 visitors.

The theme of 《2023 ZER01NE DAY》 is 《ZER01NE DAY 01: Habitat》, carrying a vision to create a “future habitat” where diverse beings beyond humans can coexist and prosper together, moving beyond today’s cities, which have been designed around people and reveal various limitations.

Under this vision, ZER01NE presents exhibitions of projects by ZER01NE Creators related to five themes: ▲Future Mobility ▲Hyper-Connected ▲Sustainability ▲New Territory ▲Meta Humanity.

At “2023 ZER01NE DAY,” ZER01NE will unveil ▲24 projects prepared by creators and ▲2 projects created in collaboration with employees of Hyundai Motor Group’s Namyang Research Center.

In particular, through “Z-LAB,” a collaboration program between creators and Hyundai Motor Group employees, ZER01NE has prepared participatory exhibitions with employees of Namyang Research Center, allowing visitors to directly experience new possibilities for autonomous vehicles.

The exhibition presents new concepts for autonomous vehicles to visitors by implementing early models of “Timescaper,” which combines existing user experience with ▲Augmented Reality(AR) and proposes the possibility of autonomous vehicles as a new medium for viewing landscapes of the past, present, and future by reconstructing data acquired during driving; and “Meta Shell: Hypershere0.1,” which combines ▲Virtual Reality(VR) and allows visitors to experience what feels like actual driving within a virtual space constructed from real driving data.

In addition, Studio SKLIM, a creator group based in Singapore and India, carried out a future city project considering both sustainability and marketability by conceiving an electric vehicle charging shelter suited to hot weather, using primitive materials long used in Asia as materials for contemporary architecture after improving their functions with advanced technology.

Furthermore, media artist Soh Boram builds an archive zone through Smart Skin Farm by cultivating plant-based leather with bacteria, and when humans enter biometric information data, she assigns a code integrated with artificial leather. Through this, she reflects on the sacrifice of nonhuman beings while also considering the use of biometric data in a historical context.

In addition, creator Moritz Simon Geist created a robot based on machine learning algorithms that generates sound and movement using machines, interacting with viewers and attempting to expand human creativity by turning the robot into a new instrument that plays various harmonies.

Sound and music creator team Jeffrey J. Kim X Psients, through Resonance, generate sounds using bacteria that decompose PHA plastic, and explore interactions between humans and bio through the energy, frequency, and vibration of microorganisms.

A ZER01NE representative stated, “For a sustainable future, ZER01NE has carried out various explorations and experiments. Through this process, we came to imagine ways of coexisting with all surrounding beings that we have not recognized, and were able to present a vision of the transformation and growth of habitats where culture, technology, and infrastructure come together, connecting the past, present, and future. We hope ZER01NE DAY will become a place where more visitors can share and resonate with the future habitat imagined by ZER01NE.”
