Sojung Jun is a media artist based in Seoul. She received a master's degree in media arts from Seoul National University’s Department of Sculpture and the Graduate School of Communication at Yonsei University.

Global
luxury brand CHANEL and Frieze, one of the world’s three major art fairs,
present the fourth season of the “Now & Next” video series, which
highlights the perspectives and voices of contemporary Korean artists.
Sponsored
by CHANEL and produced by Frieze, this project brings together artists from
diverse generations and backgrounds, creating a platform for creative dialogue
through the shared language of art.
In “Now
& Next 2025,” three pairs of artists are featured: Yunchul Kim & Sojung
Jun, Kim Bohie & Yumi Chung, and Lee Jinju & Nosik Lim. Launched in
2022 and now in its fourth edition, the project has consistently focused on
artists who are expanding the boundaries of contemporary art.
The
selected artists have each been highly regarded in their respective fields for
their distinctive artistic practices and outstanding technical abilities.
Yunchul
Kim integrates technology into art, presenting works that utilize various media
such as installation, drawing, and sound, while Sojung Jun explores
contemporary aesthetics and political contexts through video and text.
Kim
Bohie captures the natural world by combining traditional painting techniques
with keen observation, and Yumi Chung creates works that explore abstract
landscapes at the boundary between memory and imagination through traditional
methods.
Lee
Jinju, inspired by East Asian painting, recreates memories from everyday life
and unfamiliar scenes from the unconscious, while Nosik Lim continues to pursue
attempts to capture invisible presences through the process of painting.
The
selected artists will present video works exploring themes such as time and
connectivity, Seoul as a global art hub, and the rapidly changing world, around
the time of Frieze Seoul, held from September 3 to 6 at COEX. The works will be
released sequentially through the Frieze website.
CHANEL
Korea stated, “‘Now & Next’ has evolved into a cultural platform that
provides meaningful opportunities for Korean artists to gain broader
recognition and engage in significant exchange since its inception,” adding,
“Through the collaboration of carefully selected artists in its fourth season,
we expect it to open new horizons in contemporary art discourse.”
