To mark its fifth anniversary, Suwon Art Space Gwanggyo presents the family experience exhibition 《Sensorimotor Stadium》, where visitors interact with artworks using their bodies and senses, and understand and communicate with diverse forms of artistic expression.

《Sensorimotor Stadium》 views artists as athletes, and artworks as games born from their refined skills and abilities, while the exhibition space is set as the stadium where these games unfold. Just as athletes demonstrate their performance in a game, this exhibition encourages visitors to stimulate and use all of their senses and cognitive abilities in order to commune and communicate with the artworks.

Just as a stadium is a stage where athletes train and challenge their physical limits, this exhibition is a training ground for the senses, where visitors can explore and expand their sensory limits.

Featuring Ye-eun Min, Baik In Kyo, Somokjang Semi, Im Jibin, Chung Manyoung, and Choi Eunchul, 《Sensorimotor Stadium》 carries two meanings. The first, “sensorimotor,” refers to the stage in which infants understand the world through sensation and movement. Visitors participate in Awakening the Senses, where they train by communing with artworks through various senses.

The second, “stadium,” refers to a place where visitors and artworks become one, a playground of the senses. Through Synesthetic Games, in which visitors open all the senses of the body and move and act together with the exhibits, they achieve deeper communion with the artworks.

Going beyond simply viewing works, the exhibition offers an opportunity for each visitor to feel and interpret works through their own senses and exercise a new dimension of artistic imagination.
