Gyeonggi Province’s DMZ Policy Division and the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization, headed by President Lee Sun-myung, held open calls for visual artists and street art performances for the ‘Camp Greaves DMZ Peace Platform Project’ and selected six visual artists or teams and ten street art works on the 24th.

The open call for visual artists sought new works addressing the themes of the DMZ and Camp Greaves. A total of twenty-three artists applied, resulting in a competition rate of approximately four to one.

A seven-member selection committee comprising representatives from Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization, as well as external experts, evaluated the submissions according to criteria including suitability for the site, creativity and artistic quality, and audience participation, ultimately selecting six artists or teams.

The six selected artists and teams—Kang HyunAh, Park Seong Jun, Insane Park, Jang Yongsun, Jang Youngwon, and c.realTimes (Kang Min-jun, Kim Min-kyung, and Song Cheon-ju)—will work for two months in creative spaces within Camp Greaves. Beginning in August, they will present new works in a range of genres, including interactive art, sculpture, painting, and installation, throughout the site.

For the street art open call, thirty-seven works across various genres competed at a ratio of four to one, with ten works selected for meeting the evaluation criteria of artistic quality and audience participation.

The ten selected performance teams are LADYBOUNCE, Moon Ji-yoon, People In Backpack, Samulnori Feelak, Ain, Woorihana Arts Cooperative, Won Tae-yoon, Strange Bar, Jeon Sang-hoon, and Contents Monster. Beginning June 2, they will perform twice every Saturday and once every Sunday.

The performances will take place on the outdoor stage at Camp Greaves and encompass popular music, fusion gugak, street dance, street theatre, and magic, offering visitors dynamic and engaging experiences.
