During Frieze Seoul, a wide range of “Frieze Week” programs—including public art, film screenings, and talks—will unfold across the city.

Frieze Seoul announced on August 14 that it will present various programs offering opportunities to experience art throughout Seoul in conjunction with the fifth edition of Frieze Seoul, which will take place at COEX from September 2 to 5.

The flagship program 《Frieze LIVE》 will feature the Korean premiere of British artist Ryan Gander’s public art project The Find Seoul. The project will hide 16,000 specially produced coins throughout Euljiro, Hannam, Cheongdam, Samcheong, and the area surrounding COEX. Visitors may keep the coins they discover or pass them on to others. The project will run from August 31 to September 10.

A special screening program, 《Busan Biennale × Frieze Film Seoul 2026》, will also be presented in collaboration with the Busan Biennale. Extending this year’s Busan Biennale theme, 《Dissident Chorus》, to Seoul, the program will be screened at SONGEUN in Cheongdam-dong during Frieze Week. It will introduce works that explore the possibilities of communication, healing, and resistance through film, sound, and performance.

During Frieze Week, galleries in Seoul’s major art districts of Samcheong-dong, Hannam-dong, and Cheongdam-dong will also remain open until late at night.

Special artist projects will also be presented at the fair.

Moon Kyungwon and Jeon Joonho’s Mobile Agora is a participatory installation in which chairs made from recycled plastic are arranged in a circle. Visitors are invited to converse freely within the work and collectively consider contemporary social issues such as the climate crisis and sustainability.

The Moon Jar Constellation, a collaboration with the art distribution company Print Bakery, will also be presented. Featuring fifteen Korean artists—including Gwon Osang, Shim Moon-Seup, Chun Kwang Young, and Choi Young Wook—the project offers contemporary reinterpretations of the Korean moon jar. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to UNICEF.

The Frieze Seoul Artist Award 2026–winning collective Yagwang will unveil its new work Facade Zone. The site-specific installation dismantles the temporary partition walls of an art fair booth and reconstructs them as an exposed timber-frame structure, drawing renewed attention to the architecture and operating mechanisms of the exhibition space.

A series of talks will also take place.

From September 3 to 5, 《2026 Kiaf SEOUL × Korea Arts Management Service (KAMS) × Frieze Seoul Talks》 will be held at COEX. Artists, curators, and representatives of art institutions from Korea and abroad—including Ayoung Kim, Chan Sook Choi, and Christine Sun Kim—will discuss topics such as contemporary art, Asian art, biennials, and museum collections.

Patrick Lee, Director of Frieze Seoul, said, “This year, Frieze Seoul sought to extend artistic experiences beyond COEX and throughout the city. Through our collaboration with the Busan Biennale and public art projects presented across Seoul, we have designed the program to offer both Korean and international audiences a deeper experience of the city’s contemporary art scene.”
