The 2023 ACC Interactive Art Research and Development [Interactive Art Lab] is a lab-based project that explores the fusion of art and advanced technology, aiming to create innovative, future-oriented art through original artistic experiments. This year, under the theme of 'Memory and Sensation' inherent in 'Place and Community,' the lab presents its research and creations in the showcase titled 《Remembering/Sensing – Community of Experience》.

Moving beyond mere interactive technology research, the project focuses on 'interaction between different entities,' seeking to view the hybrid spaces of connections and differences as 'artistic possibilities.'

Artist Hayoun Kwon, representing Laboratory B, presents The Forgotten War, an intense interactive piece that aligns the audience's movements with those of the characters within an imagined space where 'actual records' blend with dream-like 'memories.' This work delves into the ambiguous boundaries and intersections between personal memories and the collective record of history, experimenting with an artistic imaginative space where real materials like records and data intertwine with fictional reconstructions.

Through a journey following the overlooked memories and perspectives of individuals in little-known wars, the piece emphasizes human stories—focusing more on interpersonal encounters than on official historical records.

Prior to the showcase, during the convergence creation workshop, lab researchers and citizen creators shared their exploratory processes as a 'community of creation,' presenting their collaborative research and creations in the showcase. Seoul Express (Hong Min-ki, Jeon Yoo-jin) experimented with new connections and entanglements of personal and communal narratives through My Backyard, involving workshops on 'excavating personal memories and creating datasets.'

Studio Mbus703 (Ha Seok-jun, Noh Chi-wook) integrated human-machine interactions into future-oriented art through Electric Dreams, conducting workshops on 'generative AI and interactive art.' The Jo Young-joo Performance Team (Jo Young-joo, Shin Sun-jung, Jung Jae-woo) explored the interactions felt through the body in close caregiving relationships in The Gazing Movement, encompassing a broader range of convergence genres beyond mere technology through 'audience-participatory body workshops' and performance research with various experts.

《Remembering/Sensing – Community of Experience》 aims to provide visitors with an opportunity to experience a temporary 'community of sensation' by sharing emotions with others through sensory experiences occurring within a shared space in an interactive sensory environment.
Participating artists: Hayoun Kwon (representing Laboratory B), Seoul Express (Hong Min-ki, Jeon Yoo-jin), Studio Mbus703 (Ha Seok-jun, Noh Chi-wook), Jo Young-joo Performance Team (Jo Young-joo, Shin Sun-jung, Jung Jae-woo)
