The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held the 2018 Young Artists Art Competition from August to November this year and selected works by emerging Korean artists to be displayed in key reception spaces for distinguished foreign guests at the Ministry.

Under the theme “The Beauty of Korea,” a wide range of works suitable for major spaces within the Ministry were submitted, and a total of ten works by seven artists were ultimately selected for display.

※ The selected works were Kim Jieun’s The Aura of Nature, Park Jisu’s The Yellow Memory, Sul Park’s A Certain Landscape, Jang Jeong Im’s House Landscape, JIN Minwook’s Persimmon Tree and Small Birds in Seongbuk and Plum blossom and Magpie, Brown-eared bulbul in Yeonhuidong, Jinheelan’s Baengnokdam, and Hur Seunghee’s Balloon Flower and Grasshopper and the ‘Bleeding Heart and Dragonfly’ series. Through this competition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs provided young Korean artists with opportunities to exhibit their works in diplomatic spaces frequently visited by distinguished foreign guests. It also explored possibilities for connecting the selected works with overseas exhibitions through Korean diplomatic missions abroad, ultimately helping to broaden the range of opportunities available to emerging artists.

The selected works can be viewed through the social media channels of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Bureau of Public and Cultural Diplomacy.
