Ahead of Kiaf Seoul 2025 this September, the Galleries Association of Korea has selected ten emerging artists regarded as the next generation of the Korean art scene. Their works will be introduced to the public through various channels and collaborations before, during, and after Kiaf.

On the 4th, the association announced the ten artists selected as semifinalists for Kiaf HIGHLIGHTS: Ahra Kim (Kimreeaa Gallery), Jungin Kim (Laheen Gallery), Moonassi (Everyday Mooonday), Grim Park (THEO), Nohwan Park (Space Willing N Dealing), Donghoon Rhee (Gallery SP), Eunsi Jo (Gallery MEME), Sejin Hong (Gallery PLANET), Geoffroy Pithon (MAĀT Gallery), and Yu Xiao (Lucie Chang Fine Arts).

Each participating Kiaf gallery recommended one artist, after which a jury composed of art professionals made the final selections through a fair evaluation process. The principal criterion was the potential of young artists capable of reflecting current developments in contemporary visual art while suggesting new creative possibilities.

The artists’ identities, the originality of their modes of expression, and the narrative persuasiveness of their work within a contemporary context were assessed comprehensively.

Kiaf HIGHLIGHTS is Kiaf’s flagship artist support program and was launched in 2023. Works by the selected semifinalists will be presented to the public through various channels before, during, and after the event, including Xpace at COEX in Seoul, outdoor advertising at the Gangnam Trade Center, Kiaf’s official website and catalogue, and social media. Each participating gallery booth will also display the artist’s work alongside a “HIGHLIGHTS” plaque.

Three finalists will be selected through an on-site evaluation during Kiaf. Each artist will receive a KRW 10 million creative grant sponsored by COEX, the event’s co-organizer. Lee Sung-hoon, chair of the Kiaf Operating Committee, stated, “We will continue to expand Kiaf’s role as a platform that introduces artists’ creative practices in greater depth while supporting diversity in the art market and the sustainable development of the art ecosystem.”

This year’s Kiaf will be held at COEX from September 3 to 7 under the theme “Resonance.”
