The DOOSAN Yonkang Arts Awards was established in 2010, the centennial year of the birth of the late Park Doo-byung, the founding chairman of the Doosan Yonkang Foundation, in honor of his enduring belief in the importance of nurturing talent.

The award recognizes artists under the age of 40 who have established distinctive artistic practices in the fields of performing and visual arts and who demonstrate strong potential to introduce the excellence of Korean art to an international audience.

Chairman Park Yong-hyun remarked, "It is Doosan's role to help shape the future of Korean arts and culture alongside young and talented creators. We hope this award will serve as an opportunity for the recipients to further deepen and expand their artistic practices."
