The DOOSAN Yonkang Arts Awards was established in 2010 to honor the legacy of the late Park Doo-byung, the founding chairman of Doosan Group, who emphasized the importance of nurturing talented individuals. The award recognizes artists under the age of forty with exceptional potential to introduce the excellence of Korean art to an international audience in the fields of performing arts and visual arts.

Chairman Park Yong-hyun stated, "Discovering and supporting young, talented artists so that they may engage with a broader world is both a corporate social responsibility and an important mission for Doosan."

Doosan Yonkang Foundation has continued to expand its support for arts and culture, including the opening of DOOSAN Gallery New York in Chelsea, New York, in July 2009, and the operation of the Doosan Residency program, which provides artists with both living accommodations and studio space.
