In celebration of Craft Week in May, the Korea Craft & Design Foundation (President Kim Taehoon, hereafter KCDF) presents the 2022 KCDF Window Gallery planned exhibition 《The Window of My Room》 at KCDF Gallery in Insa-dong from May 18 to June 19.

This planned exhibition accompanies the 2022 Craft Week slogan “Let’s Go to Our Home.”

Taking “my room,” a private space, and “window,” a symbol of communication, as its keywords, the exhibition newly focuses on how, in the post-COVID era, objects in living spaces are no longer purchased simply to fill empty spaces, but are transformed into parts of the self that express oneself. It presents viewers with stories of craft that hold value beyond everyday objects.

Eum Kixung’s ceramic tables and stools create harmony through the strange forms made by their imperfect shapes, while the light formed as it passes through artist Hwang Heeji’s “window,” woven from transparent acrylic material, proposes “rest” to its subject.

In addition, artist Jung Jimin’s metal objects reinterpret visually invisible emotions as objects, passing between the works and conveying to viewers stories about the emotions of objects within the window.

A KCDF official stated, “Like a ‘window’ that leads to another world beyond limited environments and spaces, we hope this exhibition will become a medium connecting the free artistic worlds of the three artists with the sensibilities of viewers.”
