The Korea Craft and Design Foundation (President Jang Dongkwang, hereafter KCDF) announced that it will hold the group exhibition 《The Beholder》 throughout all floors of KCDF Gallery in Insa-dong from October 30 to November 17.

‘Geumbalneun People’ is an artist group composed of four artists—Kwon Seulki, Serin Oh, Oh Hwajin, and Jeong Hoyeon—who seek to expand the realm of expression by crossing boundaries.

Their first group exhibition, 《The Beholder》, newly observes everyday objects and phenomena and reflects each artist’s interpretation in the works. The exhibition consists of diverse works that break down the boundary between craft and contemporary art and move across materials and techniques.

Artist Kwon Seulki expresses traces of life through metal and plaster and explores the cycle of life, while artist Serin Oh incorporates into her work a gaze directed toward the social problem of instrumentalizing life.

Artist Oh Hwajin explores the meaning of objects from the perspective of an observer within fictional stories, and artist Jeong Hoyeon works with the density of time and memory as her theme. Through their respective original observations, they convey multilayered meanings in their works and present viewers with new perspectives.

Yang Woohyeok, head of KCDF’s Craft Culture Research Team, stated, “The exhibition will explore new possibilities in craft and art and offer viewers a fresh perspective on objects and the world.” The exhibition is free to view, and further information is available on the KCDF website (www.kcdf.or.kr).
