ZER01NE, sponsored by Hyundai Motor Group, announced on the 3rd that it will present a range of creative projects and outcomes based on imagination and creativity.

With the goal of fostering an ecosystem for creative talent, ZER01NE is Hyundai Motor Group's new open innovation platform, which opened on Gangnam-daero in Seocho-gu, Seoul, in 2018.

This exhibition, organized by ZER01NE, serves as a platform where a diverse range of creative talents—including artists, developers, and startups—can present their projects and business models to the public while promoting and expanding a culture of creativity.

This exhibition will take place over a total of twenty-two days, from October 30 to November 20, at ZER01NE Gangnam and at external cultural venues designated as "Open Studio," with attendance limited to advance reservations. At the Hyundai and Kia headquarters in Yangjae, works related to Hyundai Motor Group's future business initiatives will also be exhibited for employees over a twelve-day period, from October 30 to November 11.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues this year, ZER01NE has replaced its annual gathering of creative talents, ZER01NE Day, with an exhibition that presents creative works by a diverse range of artists.

◇ Exploring New Possibilities: The 《Open Studio》 Exhibition

A total of forty-three works are on view at Open Studio through November 20, including twenty-three works by emerging artists at ZER01NE Gangnam and twenty works by established artists at external cultural venues.

The central theme of Open Studio is "P:LAYERS," suggesting that artists who have engaged in various forms of experimentation and play within the playground of ZER01NE move toward new possibilities by forming relationships across multiple layers—between society and business, present and future, art and the public, and offline and online.

ZER01NE Gangnam is organized into two conceptual spaces: △the Creator's Laboratory and △the Creator's Studio.

The Creator's Laboratory presents works that imagine how technology may transform social environments and spaces while reflecting on the future of humanity.

Strategic designer and installation artist Luke Rideout, installation artist SungHong Min, and multimedia artist Yoyojin, through their project Pojangnongbang, explore the intersection between agricultural practices and public art, proposing new perspectives and possibilities through elements discovered in the process.

The Creator's Studio features works that address social structures, cities, and human life, along with a desire to seek solutions to contemporary issues.

AI engineer Minseo Kim, media installation artist Dongjoo Seo, and installation artist Wonwoo Lee present a project that envisions a new media environment created through the recycling of digital waste data.

A variety of creative projects are also on view at external cultural venues.

At studio eunyoungpark in Jongno-gu, artist Eunyoung Park and Hyun Park present the project My Room in a Suitcase, which gives form to reflections on the constantly mobile lifestyle of contemporary people and their relationship to private space.

At Archetype Seoul in Yongsan-gu, game designer Youngju Kim presents Manipulating the World, a work that reflects today's reality, in which the rapid circulation of information through real-time social media and individual beliefs determine the causal relationships between events.

In addition, exhibitions are being held at various cultural venues, including the National Library of Korea in Seocho-gu, CYLINDER in Gwanak-gu, Emu Cinema in Jongno-gu, and M0 Laboratory in Seongdong-gu. (For further information on the venues, please refer to the ZER01NE website.)

◇ 《ZER01NE: Homo Mobilicus》 Exhibition: The Future of Human-Centered Mobility

Creative projects connected to Hyundai Motor Group's future business initiatives are also being presented.

ZER01NE is hosting the exhibition 《ZER01NE: Homo Mobilicus》 for Hyundai and Kia employees at the Hyundai Motor Group headquarters in Yangjae from October 30 to November 11, for a total of twelve days.

The exhibition features eight works by artists affiliated with ZER01NE, including ROOMTONE (Kim Dong-wook and Jeon Jin-kyung), Kwanwoo Park, Park Sungmin, Jungho Oak, WizGene (Dmitri DK Yoon), Ye Seung Lee, Lim Sangwoo, and Yangachi, all of whom explore the future of human-centered mobility.

Wizgene, an autonomous artificial intelligence company led by Yoon Dongguk, presents the project Independent and Universal a.i: Autonomous Wheelchair, which proposes equal mobility rights for people with disabilities by improving the performance of conventional electric wheelchairs and applying autonomous driving technology to wheelchairs. The project advocates technological benefits for all.

Contemporary artist Ok Jungho presents the animation Betrayal of Longing, which reflects on corporate social responsibility in the era of Urban Air Mobility (UAM). Through this work, he considers the inherently human values that may be overlooked in the pursuit of industrial value driven by new mobility technologies.

A representative from ZER01NE stated, "Considering the COVID-19 situation this year, we sought to continue communication and creative innovation through a series of small-scale exhibitions in place of ZER01NE Day. Going forward, ZER01NE will continue to do its utmost to expand the creative ecosystem by supporting talented artists, developers, startups, and other creative individuals."

Meanwhile, with the goal of building a healthy creative ecosystem, ZER01NE recruits creative talents every year. In addition to functioning as an accelerator that discovers and nurtures promising startups, it provides a wide range of support so that creative individuals can gain new inspiration through experiences that dissolve the boundaries between art, technology, and business.
