Dassault Systèmes announced on January 16 that it has unveiled its “URBAN RENAISSANCE” campaign for more sustainable future cities at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul, under the vision, “The Only Progress is Human.”

Through the URBAN RENAISSANCE campaign, visitors can experience Dassault Systèmes’ vision of future cities through an immersive 3D video mapping installation. The video was created by Korean media artist Yiyun Kang.

Yiyun Kang explained, “Geofuture is a work that maps Seoul's DDP onto a cartographic landscape. Inspired by Dassault Systèmes, a company that designs the cities in which we live, I sought to reflect future forms of life and urban environments that aspire toward sustainable innovation.”

Victoire de Margerie, Vice President of Corporate Marketing and Communications at Dassault Systèmes and the executive in charge of the URBAN RENAISSANCE campaign, stated, “For future cities to achieve sustainability, they must be resilient. Through Dassault Systèmes' virtual twin technology, citizens can benefit from a wide range of advantages, while nations can rigorously test and verify urban systems in the virtual world before implementing them in reality. The URBAN RENAISSANCE campaign offers a glimpse into how sustainable cities can be realized at a time of accelerating urbanization. To demonstrate this vision, we chose Seoul, a vibrant and dynamic city, and collaborated with the multidisciplinary artist Yiyun Kang to present Dassault Systèmes' vision of the future city. Our commitment to a sustainable and healthy future will continue.”

A live talk show related to URBAN RENAISSANCE will be streamed on LinkedIn, YouTube, and the Dassault Systèmes website at 1:00 a.m. on January 31. Visitors will also be able to experience Kang's monumental media artwork at Dongdaemun Design Plaza and explore visions of future cities conceived by Bogdan Zaha of the Zaha Hadid Architects.
