Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art, presents the fourth edition of its biennial exhibition of emerging artists, 《ARTSPECTRUM》. Unrestricted by age, medium, or theme, the exhibition introduces Korean artists whose future development shows exceptional promise.

Approximately thirty works—including photography, installation, video, and two-dimensional works exploring personal narratives and historical events—are on view.

Eight artists were selected for 《ARTSPECTRUM 2012》. Kim Ayoung presents video works that reconstruct spaces and phenomena through research into historical events documented in newspapers and archival records, offering viewers a renewed experience of events that took place 130 years ago.

Kim Ji Eun creates large-scale installations that reveal the hidden realities of architectural environments shaped by regulation and desire against the backdrop of rapidly changing cities.

Bae Chan-Hyo creates staged self-portrait photographs inspired by the cultural differences he experienced while studying in the West, while Oak Jungho humorously reflects on aspects of contemporary society through photographs and videos featuring yoga poses.

Boyun Jang explores shared yet elusive memories through discarded photographs collected from others, and Jun Sojung reconstructs the stories of anonymous specialists who move between art and everyday life through video installations.

Choi Kichang recreates seemingly coincidental events connected by invisible links, while Han Kyung Woo invites viewers into his works to challenge preconceived notions, encouraging them to reconsider the uncertainty of reality. 《ARTSPECTRUM 2012》 offers a rare opportunity to experience the diverse spectrum of contemporary Korean art within a single exhibition.
