Choi Soo Jung’s solo exhibition 《Shoot the Moon》 unfolds a narrative about beings in flight through painting and installation. Her new works, which continue her practice of drawing and embroidering fragmentary elements derived from everyday life onto the canvas, offer a compelling extension of the cosmological worldview she has developed through themes such as 《Future of the Present in the Past》 and 《Parallel World》.

Through an installation composed of packed belongings, campfires, postcards, and other objects arranged throughout the gallery, the artist seeks to transform the exhibition space into the scene of a midnight escape. Yet this intention is repeatedly redirected through paintings that capture intersecting gazes—between inside and outside, eye and eye—ultimately leaving only the question: where is the fugitive trying to go?

At the same time, the viewer, upon entering the gallery, is positioned as both an escapee and a surveillant, or a witness. As a result, the site remains a zone of disturbance, endlessly collapsing into a black hole.
