Luxury sportswear brand Stone Island has announced the continuation of its global partnership with Frieze Focus, the section of Frieze dedicated to emerging galleries, further advancing the intersection of art and fashion.

At Frieze Focus within Frieze Seoul, taking place from September 4 to 7, 2024, works presented by ten emerging galleries will be on view. As part of the partnership, Stone Island has collaborated with Park Kyung Ryul on a special Frieze uniform T-shirt series. The project includes T-shirts featuring the artist’s work Painting 3-7, as well as fifty hand-painted T-shirts individually completed by the artist.

A short film documenting the collaborative process with Park Kyung Ryul will also be released. In addition, Park Kyung Ryul’s artwork has been acquired by Stone Island and will be donated to an institution designated by the artist.

Park Kyung Ryul is an artist who pursues a thoughtful inquiry into new approaches to the medium of painting, seeking to engage with the instinctive act of painting and the essence of the human spirit.

She approaches all elements that constitute painting as equal on an ontological level, understanding brushstrokes as movements that place material within a specific time and space.

Extending beyond the two-dimensional picture plane, she regards objects and things as occupying the same status as brushstrokes, inviting viewers to explore the free and open nature of painting.
