Established in 2001, the SONGEUN Art Award is an annual prize dedicated to discovering and supporting promising contemporary Korean artists. This year, a total of 598 artists applied, and following a preliminary review conducted in February, twenty finalists were selected. Working across painting, sculpture, installation, video, sound, and other media, the artists present new works that reflect the diverse landscape of contemporary Korean art.

The selected artists are: GuNa, Jamyoung Koo, Won Hwa Kim, Noh Sangho, Park Jongyoung, Bae Yoon Hwan, Son Sumin, Yehwan Yen Song, Yuri An, Yaloo, eobchae, Omyo Cho, Ahyeon Ryu, Seung Ae Lee, Hyein Lee, Jaiyoung Cho, Jin Minwook, Choi Jangwon, Chu Mirim, and Young-jun Tak.

The Grand Prize recipient will be selected through a final round of judging during the exhibition period and announced in January 2025. In addition to the existing award benefits—a prize of KRW 20 million and support for a solo exhibition at SONGEUN within three years—the SONGEUN Art and Cultural Foundation and Cartier will jointly acquire two works by the Grand Prize winner, valued at approximately KRW 30 million in total.

One work will enter the collection of the SONGEUN Art and Cultural Foundation and the other the collection of the Seoul Museum of Art. The Grand Prize recipient will also be offered a one-year residency opportunity through the Seoul Museum of Art’s residency program, supporting the artist’s continued practice and professional development.

All twenty participating artists will be eligible to apply for the SONGEUN–Delfina Foundation Residency Program, which is operated through an exclusive partnership between the SONGEUN Art and Cultural Foundation and the London-based Delfina Foundation.

One artist will be selected to undertake a twelve-week residency at the foundation. As the largest international residency organization in London, the Delfina Foundation invites more than forty artists annually and provides an international platform for artistic exchange and development.

Alongside the exhibition, SONGEUN’s Welcome Room will host 4321-MARKET. First launched in 2020 and now in its fifth edition, the holiday market showcases inventive products created by independent designers and provides an opportunity for emerging designers from Korea and abroad to engage directly with audiences.

This year’s edition takes “SONGEUN” as its central theme. Twenty-two teams comprising twenty-eight designers reinterpret the foundation’s history of supporting emerging artists, as well as the architectural characteristics of its new building, through products that explore materiality and structure.

These works will be presented on the day of the market, December 22. Portfolios introducing the designers’ backgrounds and future directions will remain on view in the Welcome Room through February 22.

《The 24th SONGEUN Art Award Exhibition》 is open from Monday through Saturday, 11:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., with admission available through advance reservation via Naver. The exhibition is closed on Sundays and public holidays.

Free docent tours are offered to visitors who reserve in advance through the Naver booking system and are available four times daily at 11:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. For further information, please visit the SONGEUN website or contact the foundation at +82-2-3448-0100.
