The Gana Foundation for Arts and Culture (Chairman Kim Hyung-kook), which officially launched in February, announced the selection of ten artists for the first cohort of its domestic and international atelier residency program. The selected artists include two artists for the domestic residency program at Gana Atelier in Jangheung and eight artists for the international residency program at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris.

Beginning the following year, the selected artists would be provided with studio space for one year and receive support for maintenance expenses.

The selected artists were as follows:

▶ Domestic Residency Program (Gana Atelier, Jangheung)
Kim Jongku (Sculpture) and Bae Yoon Hwan (Painting), who were scheduled to move into the studios in November.

▶ International Residency Program (Cité internationale des arts, Paris)
Ku Myung Seon (Painting), Kim Taeho (Painting), Yumi Na (Painting), Park Minyoung (Painting), Jee Hui Chang (Painting), Ham Myung Su (Painting), Daphne Jiyeon Jang (Media Art), and Chun Young Paik (Criticism). Beginning in January 2015, these participants would reside in Paris in three-month rotations.

Following completion of their residencies, participating artists would be required to submit reports documenting the outcomes of their activities.

The Gana Foundation for Arts and Culture stated, “We aim to provide outstanding Korean artists with opportunities to expand the scope of their artistic practice. Through diverse exhibition promotions and international exchange programs, we hope to introduce the achievements of Korean contemporary art to a broader global audience and contribute to the internationalization of Korean art.”
