Sounds Gathered from Everyday Life Reborn as an Exhibition
The Moment a Disaster Alert Becomes an Artwork

Platform-L Contemporary Art Center presents the solo exhibition 《An Jungju: kick, clap, hat》 by An Jungju from September 24 to October 17. This exhibition has been conceived with the intention of encouraging viewers to imagine a realm beyond visual perception through the auditory experience of sound within today’s predominantly image-centered culture.

By overturning the hierarchy between sound and image within moving image works, the exhibition further explores the unique political possibilities embedded in sound itself.

The new work kick, clap, hat, presented in this exhibition, begins with four sounds extracted from everyday life. Based on these collected sounds, An Jungju composed music and transformed it into new compositions through collaborations with composers Shin Soo Jung and Yang Youngkwang.

Building upon this music, the artist developed choreography, recorded the movements as moving images, and subsequently translated them into VR environments. Moving fluidly across image, sound, and three-dimensional visual space, the work offers audiences a new sensory experience throughout all four exhibition halls of Platform-L.
