Arts Council Korea (Chairperson Jung Byung-guk, hereafter ARKO) will open the young artist special exhibition 《ARTIST_Chadda》 on Saturday, September 7, at Itta Space in Jung-gu, Incheon. Ten young artists whom ARKO has supported over the years will come to this place, a once-vacant space that was originally an inn and has been remodeled into a small art museum.

Through the Small Art Museum Development Project, ARKO has, over the past ten years, remodeled vacant spaces in 36 regions across the country where there were no art museums, creating small but intimate art spaces within people’s living areas or supporting the revitalization of exhibitions. This is intended to allow everyone across every corner of Korea to enjoy culture and the arts richly.

This exhibition at Itta Space brings cultural vitality to the region through ten young artists whom ARKO has taken note of. These artists were selected for ARKO’s “First Support for Young Artists’ Careers,” and a total of five sessions will bring the following artists to the space: Kim Boram, Park Yonghwa, and Shim Sunghoon in September; Kim Rayeon, Heejung Choi, Kim Hyunho, and Lee Jaeyong in October; and Koo Nahye, Song Jihyoung, and Shin Jaeeun in November.

Through the operation of small art museums in this way, ARKO plans to continue supporting various programs that promote the enjoyment of culture and the arts in local regions and share the creative energy of young artists with local communities.
