The Amorepacific Museum of Art announced on the 4th that the art film over there, directed by Jang Minseung and produced with its support, will be screened in the Wide Angle section of the Busan International Film Festival (23rd edition) on the 8th and 9th at Busan Cinematheque.

over there originated from Jang Minseung’s participation in the exhibition 《apmap 2014 – Between Waves》, held in 2014 by the Amorepacific Museum of Art in the areas surrounding Osulloc Tea House and the Seogwang tea fields in Jeju Island.

Filmed over approximately 1,000 days beginning in the spring of 2015, as the director traveled back and forth to Jeju, the film captures the island’s authentic essence as observed and discovered while the director isolated himself from the outside world. It is a work that records diverse landscapes of Jeju through pure visual imagery without narrative.

Beyond the familiar scenery of Jeju as a tourist destination, the film captures watercourses, rocks, forests, oreum (volcanic cones), and caves in places untouched by human presence. The mystical landscapes—momentarily veiled by fog and then revealed again—depict Jeju as a sacred site inhabited by countless spirits and as a vast living entity.

The background score, composed by Jaeil Jung and performed by an orchestra from Budapest, conveys a mysterious atmosphere and evokes a deep resonance.

The film over there, along with its photographic works, is expected to gain increasing significance over time as a record of the unique vegetation of Hallasan Mountain, which is rapidly disappearing due to climate change.
