Chong Kun Dang (CEO Kim Jung-woo) announced on the 27th that three emerging artists—Ryu Noa, Shim Woohyun, and Ahn Doojin—have been selected for the “Chongkundang Yesuljisang 2013.”

“Chongkundang Yesuljisang 2013” is part of the company’s cultural and arts support initiatives. The project was established to contribute to the development of contemporary Korean art by supporting promising emerging artists with opportunities for creative work and exhibitions, thereby fostering their sustained growth.

Following last year, Chong Kun Dang conducted two rounds of private evaluations by art professionals. Based on artistic capability, potential for growth, and the core philosophy of the project, three emerging artists were selected. Each of the final selected artists will receive an annual grant of 10 million KRW for three years, along with the opportunity to hold a three-person curated exhibition in the final year of support.

One of this year’s selected artists, Ryu Noa, stated, “The Chongkundang Yesuljisang is a practical and concrete project that guarantees the artistic activities of emerging artists,” adding, “I will dedicate myself further to my creative work and present outstanding pieces at the three-person exhibition in 2015.”

A representative from Chong Kun Dang commented, “Starting this year, the support period for selected artists has been extended to three years, transforming the program into a more long-term and systematic project,” and added, “We plan to continue supporting artists across various genres such as sculpture, photography, and installation art.”

Since 2012, Chong Kun Dang has been promoting the “Chongkundang Yesuljisang” as part of the “Art & Business (A&B)” partnership program, in collaboration with the Korea Mecenat Association and the alternative space Art Space HUE.
