The Doosan Yonkang Foundation held the ‘7th Doosan Yonkang Art Award’ ceremony on the 7th at Doosan Art Center in Jongno 5-ga, Seoul, with Chairman Park Yong-hyun in attendance.
 
The Doosan Yonkang Art Award is presented in two categories: performing arts and visual arts. This year, in the performing arts category, Gu Jahye (34), head of the theater company ‘Yeogineun Dangyeonhi, Geukjang,’ received the award, while in the visual arts category, Kim Heecheon (27), Park Gwangsoo (32), and Lee Hoin (36) were each awarded.

A total of approximately 430 million KRW worth of benefits, including prize money and activity support, is provided to the four awardees. The performing arts awardee receives 30 million KRW in prize money and 100 million KRW in production support for a new performance. The visual arts awardees each receive 10 million KRW in prize money, residency at Doosan Residency New York, and support worth approximately 90 million KRW, including exhibitions at Doosan Gallery Seoul and New York.
 
The Doosan Yonkang Art Award was established in 2010, the 100th anniversary of the birth of the late founding chairman Park Doobyung, in order to carry on his legacy emphasizing the importance of nurturing talent. It selects artists under the age of 40 in the fields of performing arts and visual arts who demonstrate strong potential to promote the excellence of Korean art on the global stage.
 
Chairman Park stated, “Preparing the future of our cultural arts together with young and talented creators is what Doosan must do,” adding, “We hope that this award will serve as an opportunity to further expand and deepen the artistic world of the recipients.”
