Musician Bek Hyunjin is conducting an experiment by sequentially releasing two full-length albums at a six-hour interval.

According to his agency DooRooDooRoo Artist Company on the 10th, Bek released his new full-length album “Seoul Syntax: Day Side” at 12 p.m. on the same day. Six hours later, at 6 p.m., he will unveil “Seoul Syntax: Night Side.”

The title “Seoul Syntax,” which encompasses both albums, means “the way of Seoul.” It is a record expressing what Bek Hyunjin, who was born and raised in Seoul, has experienced, felt, and thought through his own techniques, senses, and mind in auditory form.

The album includes a total of 16 tracks, including “Light 23” and “Quince,” which were released as singles in December 2023 and October last year respectively, “Raw Fish Restaurant” unveiled through a Naver Onstage performance, four instrumental tracks, and previously unreleased songs that could only be heard at live performances.

“Seoul Syntax: Day Side” musically embodies the warm sensations of the city like a walk and sunlight, while “Seoul Syntax: Night Side” captures the calm emotions of the night like waves or a bonfire. It clearly depicts the contrasting imagery of day and night.

Bek intended that listening to the album tracks in order would naturally follow the flow of a day.

Moreover, Bek revealed that he has been engaged in a painstaking struggle for two years not only as a producer but also as a mixing engineer, resulting in a sound with a distinctly personal character.

Mastering was handled by Chab, a French engineer who won a Grammy Award after participating in album production for the legendary French electronic duo Daft Punk.

The album cover was completed through a collaboration combining an abstract graphic by Germany-based designer Kim Youngna with Bek Hyunjin’s painting titled “Part of a Painting with No Title.”

DooRooDooRoo Artist Company stated, “Releasing two albums on the same day with a time gap is a rare attempt. This was possible thanks to Bek Hyunjin’s creative attitude that does not hesitate to embrace change.”

Bek Hyunjin received great responses in the first half of this year by appearing at the 2025 KT&G Sangsang Realization Festival and The Airhouse. His long-running “77 Show,” which has continued for about 60 sessions, will take a break in the second half of the year to prepare for a solo performance. On the 22nd, he will perform at the Asian Pop Festival held at Paradise City in Incheon.
