Welcoming the coming spring, The Great Collection presents the exhibition 《Put My Finger in the Portal》 as its first exhibition of the year, featuring the promising young artist JOO SLA. As an emerging artist of the MZ generation who engages with the worldviews of animation and games, JOO SLA was recently selected as a DAC artist by Doosan Gallery and gained attention through the Art Lab exhibition.

In the exhibition title 《Put My Finger in the Portal》, “portal” refers both to an “entrance” or “front door” and to a magical or technological gateway connecting two different locations. The artist uses this as a metaphor, focusing on the portal as a passage to the virtual world and on the dimensional shifts we experience when placing our fingers into the digital world. This exhibition introduces complex emotional states such as perception, transition, and confusion that occur in the fleeting moment when dimensions shift.

In particular, rather than offering a singular, fixed dimension of viewing artworks, the exhibition encourages viewers to imagine multiple dimensions by presenting the processes through which various artistic forms transform. Images reminiscent of nostalgic paper comics are realized as prints, transformed into imaginative 3D sculptures, and further evolve into animated videos, generating a series of sensory experiences. This exhibition presents works from different genres—flat, sculptural, and video installation—woven together into a single trajectory.
