Jaeyeon Yoo constructs landscapes where daily life and fantasy coexist, emerging from nocturnal contemplation. She unfolds the large and small incidents encountered in everyday life—and the imagination and thought that arise from them—through concentrated focus on “night” as both time and place.

Tenderly visualizing childhood experiences and memories, while introducing anxious situations or ambiguous presences, she expresses the ambivalent nature of the world. This approach attends to the “gap” that follows from dual worlds—society and individual, past and present, interior and exterior, being and perception—rooted in private memory and the subtle emotions generated by fantasy.

From May 5 to June 17, Art Sohyang presents Yoo’s solo exhibition 《Run Hide Tell》. The exhibition features over thirty new paintings centered on her 'Night Walker' series, which captures solitary figures walking through blue nights.

The works in this exhibition depict subjects who move between recurring nocturnal settings, pausing briefly to perform certain actions. Figures peer into light seeping from hollowed bushes, or lean and sit in contemplation, gazing at unfolding events. The artist metaphorically describes the act of “drawing” as running away from reality (Run), hiding within the canvas (Hide), and returning to the world to speak again (Tell).
