Park Chanmin’s photography exhibition 《CITIES》, which captures and reveals the desires of society through the image of the metropolis, will be held at Korea Photographers Gallery from May 23 to June 14.

In this exhibition, Park simplifies and schematizes the form of skyscrapers—symbols of the modern city—to reveal, through photography, the increasing standardization of contemporary urban environments. As cities begin to resemble one another, do the desires of society and those of individuals also converge?

Rather than asserting an answer, the artist poses this question through a method of presentation that reveals rather than directs. The world and the human, nature and society, the individual and the city—like the intricate networks of urban roads, these entangled ideas are captured through Park’s perspective, forming within the exhibition space a city of his own construction.

Through 《CITIES》, KP Gallery aims to offer viewers an opportunity to engage intuitively with the artificial world of the “city,” and to reflect once again on the spaces we inhabit today.
