Hong Sungchul graduated from Hongik University’s Department of Sculpture (1994) and obtained a master’s degree in Fine Art / Integrated Media from the California Institute of the Arts (2001).

Thousands
of elastic strings and pixelated units are connected, forming a distinct figure
when viewed from a distance, yet dissolving as one approaches. The hand
appears, but cannot be touched; the silhouette trembles and wavers, and
sensation is severed. Touch is blocked, and vision becomes uncertain.
Existence
rests upon a solid structure, yet its substance is always slipping away and
deferred. An uncommunicative self, incomplete existence, and the fragmentation
of the senses with anxiety are continuously shaped within ceaseless vibration.
