The Busan Human Rights Office of the National Human Rights Commission of Korea (Director: Kim Jaeseok) will hold the photography exhibition 《Silent Night, Left as Deep Darkness》 by the photographer Joo Yongseong from March 26 (Mon) to May 27 (Sun), 2018, at the Busan Human Rights Exhibition Hall located on the B1 level of Mulmangol Station on Busan Subway Line 3.

The Busan Human Rights Office has continuously presented diverse perspectives on human rights through exhibitions of human rights–related artworks. Marking the fourth anniversary of the Sewol Ferry disaster, the exhibition seeks to revisit the values of life, safety, and human rights through Joo Yongseong’s photographic series on the Sewol tragedy.

Joo Yongseong is a photographer trained in photojournalism who has long used photography as a means of illuminating society. This exhibition presents photographs depicting Paengmok Harbor and the people left behind in the aftermath of the Sewol Ferry disaster. Through continued exhibitions of human rights–oriented works, the Busan Human Rights Office plans to further expand public awareness and social empathy regarding human rights.
