Since 2017, the Incheon Foundation for Arts and Culture and Hana Financial TI have pursued the development of social contribution partnerships in the cultural and artistic fields through ongoing media art exhibitions, supporting media artists and expanding the foundation of contemporary art in Incheon. 《Floating-Zone》 is the fifth exhibition jointly organized by the Incheon Foundation for Arts and Culture and Hana Financial TI, and focuses on the phenomenon of “floating” that exists beneath the surface of contemporary cities within the context of capitalist social structures.

《Floating-Zone》 originates from a critical awareness of local communities and explores aspects of “zones” formed through semiotic interactions among humans, space, and phenomenological culture. This exhibition presents social landscapes created by two artists whose practices focus on phenomena that are difficult to perceive from everyday perspectives, moving beyond institutional regulations, vested interests, and the structural limitations or problems embedded within society.

Through this, the exhibition raises questions about the phenomena existing beneath the surface of the ordinary urban environment we inhabit today and the meanings inherent within them, ultimately seeking a new semantic spatiality of the human condition.
