《Youngin and Butterfly: Letters from the Particle Laboratory at the End》 marks the first exhibition presented under the name Oro Minkyung, by the artist previously known as Bae Minkyung for her performative and sound-based work. Here, the time she spent confronting nature, community, and society as an individual — alongside moments of enduring her own illness — are layered together. Through a fictional character named Youngin, a sick female scientist, the artist weaves her question about physical limitations and standards imposed by others and by society.

Throughout the exhibition, devices respond only through the audience’s involvement.

Like the butterfly effect, one small movement triggers another sound; a mere act of observing sets something in motion. Visual perception extends into auditory sensation; tactile sense returns as visual recognition.

Through even a single activated sense, viewers can perceive the delicately placed movements, spreading lights, subtle sounds, and trembling moments that Oro carefully unfolds. At the same time, the exhibition quietly reveals how the artist envisions community — by acknowledging the collaborative nature of this process with “friends of Oro Minkyung,” who co-conceived experiments and outcomes together.
