《Daejeon Science Art Biennale 2022 : Future of Cities》 reflects on how all human and nonhuman beings on Earth may live “together” without exclusion, contemplating future cities through the lens of the present.

Against the backdrop of the pandemic and severe environmental degradation, the exhibition explores Donna Haraway’s concept of “terrapolis,” an open world in which all life forms that are inseparably interdependent share equal rights and co-create the future city.

Accordingly, the exhibition offers an expansive view of the myriad issues surrounding contemporary cities—from environmental crises to the restructuring of urban space caused by advances in technology and the unprecedented pandemic—presenting alternative urban scenarios imagined through the strata of the present moment. It aims to become a platform for sharing the possibilities of open futures collectively created in the complex web of the city.
