Hanjin Group’s Ilwoo Foundation established the award in 2009 to discover emerging photographers

The Ilwoo Foundation of Hanjin Group announced on the 23rd that it has selected JeongMee Yoon (49, Publication Category), Kim Chunsoo (37, Exhibition Category), and Park Jong Sik (39, Press Category) as the recipients of the 9th Ilwoo Photography Award.

Established in 2009 to discover promising photographers with talent and passion, the Ilwoo Photography Award marks its ninth edition this year.

JeongMee Yoon, selected for the Publication Category, has been delivering social and educational messages through her ‘Pink and Blue’ project, which examines gender and stereotypes in our society. Her work has been highly acclaimed for its ability to resonate with audiences not only in Korea but also across North America and Europe.

Kim Chunsoo, selected for the Exhibition Category, was positively evaluated for his ability to communicate with audiences in a familiar and engaging manner through his creative and refreshing series, ‘First as Tragedy, Then as Farce,’ characteristic of a young artist.

Park Jong Sik, the recipient in the Press Category, was recognized for capturing the profound emotions and resonances of various events and phenomena occurring across society with a steady and composed perspective.

Through the Ilwoo Photography Award, the Ilwoo Foundation selects two to three passionate artists each year and supports them in producing works as well as organizing exhibitions and publications, with the aim of fostering internationally competitive, world-class artists.

The award has also expanded eligibility to include all works created using photographic media, providing broader opportunities for participation. With its professional evaluation process and substantial benefits for awardees, it is regarded as one of the most prestigious support programs in Korea.
