The Yeongdeungpo Cultural Foundation (CEO Gunwang Lee) hosts the special exhibition 《Hacking M》 at Soolsool Gallery, located on the B1 floor of the Soolsool Center, an art × technology convergence space in Mullae Creative Village. The exhibition runs from September 27 to October 12, 2024.

This exhibition was realized through the collaboration of technical artisans and artists who share Mullae-dong—a neighborhood where more than 1,200 small metal workshops coexist with creative studios. They shared interests, memories, and labor, ultimately shaping the exhibition through joint effort.

The title “M” stands for multiple values and meanings, such as Mullae, Machine, Memory, Man, Moving, Maker, Master, and Meet. “Hacking” metaphorically signifies the practice of discovering and resolving weaknesses in networks, reflecting the artistic methods of collaboration between contemporary artists and small manufacturers in Mullae. Participating artists — Sunghyeop Seo, Joohyung Song, Hobin Hwang, and Bum Hong — reinterpret the lives of local artisans, the history and industrial character of the area, and sensory elements such as sounds, smells, and memories through their artistic perspectives, presenting them as convergence artworks.

CEO Gunwang Lee of the Yeongdeungpo Cultural Foundation stated, “Through this exhibition, we hope to open a new space of solidarity that connects art and technology, community and people, past and present.”
