The order that sustains life and reality has long existed through the power of taboo. Beyond the boundary lies the realm of taboo, a space that cannot be controlled by order; beyond this paradise, everything is surrounded by fear. In today’s reality, the severe pain of punishment inflicted for violating this order has now become just one of the many conditions for pleasure. Huh, Need-you (a.k.a. Dew Kim)’s solo exhibition 《Dear Fear》 begins as an autobiographical story that explores fear beyond comfort, in which the artist confronts himself within the negativity that exists outside the boundaries.

Huh, Need-you (a.k.a. Dew Kim)

Huh, Need-you’s work captures the moment in which destruction and birth coexist. This simultaneous moment does not fall into any category equipped with a fixed logic or linguistic system. The artist asserts that the starting point of art, religion, and identity lies at the critical threshold of change and collision. He attempts to create or coordinate such change and conflict into a new form within a certain structure, and engages in queer practices that work to erase existing normative boundaries.
