The Arko Art Center of the Arts Council Korea (Arko) announced on the 28th that it will hold an artist showcase event titled “2024 Arko Young Artist Day” from September 3 to 8, in line with major art events such as the Busan Biennale, Kiaf (Korea International Art Fair), and Frieze Seoul.

The event is being organized to introduce young Korean artists to both domestic and international audiences during a time of active exchange in the art world brought about by international art fairs. Twenty-five emerging curators and artists selected through Arko’s “2024 Youth Artist Advancement Support Program” are expected to participate.

During the event period, portfolio exhibitions of young artists will be held at the Arko Art Center and the Artist House in Jongno-gu, Seoul. On September 5, a performance combining presentations and live acts by seven artists—Duk Kim, Yoojin Jung, Yunhyoung Park, Bomi Ahn, Jihye Park, Boram So, and Minseok Chi—will take place at the Grand Theater of the Arko Arts Theater.

Following the performance, an on-site talk titled “Who Are the Young Artists? Emerging-, New-, and Youth-” will be jointly hosted by the Arko Art Center and the YouTube channel “Culture & Art for You,” along with a networking party for participants.

Collaborations with Kiaf and Frieze Seoul will also take place. As part of the exhibition “Kiaf onSITE: Invisible Turning Point” curated by Seung-A Lee, the work  by Jin Dal Rae and Woo Hyuck Park will be presented as the opening performance of the event. A joint project with Frieze Seoul titled “Art Space Online Map” will also introduce 114 art spaces across Korea to international visitors.

Registration for the event is open on a first-come, first-served basis, and more detailed information can be found on the Arko Art Center website.
