The Ilwoo Foundation, a public interest foundation under Hanjin Group, held a “Children’s Photography Class” for three days from the 11th to the 13th at the Korean Air Training Center in Singal, Yongin.

A total of 20 children from multicultural families attending Jiguchon School in Oryu-dong, Seoul, participated in the program. The participants were selected based on their interest in photography and their basic knowledge acquired through school photography clubs.

During the three-day program, the children received theoretical education on photography as a tool of communication, including ways of seeing the world through images, as well as the use and operation of cameras in the digital imaging era.

They also engaged in various hands-on activities, such as taking portrait photos of each other in groups, printing their photographs onto T-shirts, and creating their own photo albums. Equipment for the class was sponsored by Canon Korea Consumer Imaging.

Since 2010, the Ilwoo Foundation has been running photography classes for children to provide those who have limited access to formal photography education with opportunities to experience new perspectives through the camera lens, fostering creativity and artistic thinking while supporting their future aspirations.

For this program, Jeong Kyungja, winner of the 5th Ilwoo Photography Award, and Park Chanmin, winner of the 6th award, participated in person. They worked alongside the children to take photographs and create albums, contributing their talents to nurture creative imagination and dreams for the future, thereby adding significance to the event.

Meanwhile, since establishing the Ilwoo Photography Award in 2009, the Ilwoo Foundation has been discovering and supporting promising photographers with talent and passion. It also actively engages in cultural philanthropy by offering free exhibitions of renowned photographers at Ilwoo Space, located on the first floor of the Korean Air Building in Seosomun, and by organizing photography lectures for the public.
