Installation view ⓒ SONGEUN

From April 6 to May 14, 2022, the Songeun Art and Cultural Foundation presents its collection exhibition 《Past. Present. Future.》. This marks the foundation’s first collection exhibition in ten years since 《Testing Testing 1.2.3: Songeun Collection Exhibition》 held in 2012.

Participating artists include Kim Sejin, Kim Young-eun, Kim Woojin, Kim Eunhyeong, Kim Jun, Kim Junmyung, Kim Jipyung, Park Bona, Park Junbum, Shin Jungkyun, Lee Sekyung, Lee Eunwoo, Lee Jaee, Lee Jinju, Jung Soyoung, Choi Seongim, and Orange Minor/Ko Jaewook.

The exhibition features selected contemporary artworks collected by the foundation in support of emerging artists, presented alongside pieces from its Korean antique collection. A separate exhibition room is also dedicated to NFT works. Rather than organizing the timeline of past, present, and future in a linear fashion, the exhibition seeks to highlight the intersection of time—suggesting that the past and future are continually crossing within the present.

Traditional Korean paintings, crafts, and calligraphy from the Goryeo and Joseon periods (past) are exhibited alongside contemporary murals, sculptures, and video works (present) within the same gallery space, while NFT works (future) suggest a vision for the future of Korean art.
Spanning a wide range of themes, Past. Present. Future. presents more than just a display of collection holdings—it reinterprets them through a compelling curatorial framework. This exhibition serves as a meaningful occasion to reaffirm the Songeun Foundation’s capacity and vision in shaping the future of Korean contemporary art.
