Over
the past 3,650 days—ten full years—what has wholly filled the Seoul Museum of
Art has been the footsteps of countless artists who have passed through its
spaces. During this time, the museum has woven together the warp of artists and
the weft of viewers, creating rich and meaningful aesthetic experiences.
Encompassing the past, present, and future, and engaging in continuous artistic
exchange with the public over the last decade, we now take a quiet moment to
reflect on this journey.
《3650 Storage - Interview》 is an exhibition that introduces new and recent works by artists
previously presented at the Seoul Museum of Art, in the format of interviews.
Through these conversations, the exhibition shares stories of artistic
creation, as well as the concerns and visions that artists carry as
practitioners of our time.
The
muse—known as a source of inspiration—refers, in Greek and Roman mythology, to
the nine goddesses of the arts and sciences. The word “museum” itself
originates from the idea of “a place where the muses gather.”
Through
《3650 Storage - Interview》, the Seoul Museum of Art does not seek to ambitiously claim a
comprehensive overview of contemporary art. Rather, by exploring the evolving
and deepening practices of participating artists, and by engaging with their
voices through interviews (written, podcast, and live formats), the exhibition
aims to reflect on the concerns of art in the present moment and to introduce
the muses that may inspire audiences today.
Now,
the Seoul Museum of Art looks toward a new decade—one in which it continues to
introduce muses to its visitors. As the museum prepares for another ten years
with new art and new stories, we ask for your continued support and
encouragement in this endeavor.
